SOMD WaterSports in Solomons, MD is currently providing the newest Jet Skis on the market, the 2023 Sea-Doo GTX Pro & The 2023 Sea-Doo Spark 2up these are incredible machines, to say the least!! These jet-skis are capable of carrying 2 people (as long as weight limit of 352lbs is not exceeded) and of ripping across the waves at 45+ mph. You will not find a more exciting ride on the water, and we provide plenty of space to let ’em rip!!
Guidlines
Jet skiing is incredibly fun… that is unless someone gets hurt. We don’t want anyone to get hurt on the water, which is why we give all of our riders a training course in jet skiing before heading out onto the open bay. No experience is needed to ride our jet skis while renting in Solomons, Md but you do need to pay close attention to our safety guidelines!
Prior to heading out on the water for fun with your family and friends, one of our employees will give you and any other jet ski operator in your group, a safety course.
Here’s a sample of the guidelines we’ll talk about before you begin your jet-ski adventure:
DRIVERS:
- Must be at least 16 yrs old with a photo ID (state ID, drivers license, or passport)
- Must wear a life jacket at all times. Life jackets are provided by SOMD Watersports
- No matter your experience level, you WILL have to go through a brief training
- Boating License NOT required
- Instructions and Safety guidelines are included prior to going on the water and must be given to each customer who is renting a jetski
PASSENGERS:
- Must wear a life jacket at all times. Life jackets are provided by SOMD Water sports, you can take turns driving if a passenger meets requirements for drivers (above)
- Any age passenger can ride with a qualified driver
- It’s recommended for all passengers to sit behind the driver. This is for the safety of the driver and passenger. We can work with you on this one and will discuss the best option for you and your passenger.
- ALWAYS wear a life jacket. We’ve got a ton of them, and we make sure that all of our jet skiers have a life jacket before they jet away.
- We’ll also ensure that it’s strapped on tight and fits you properly, as life jackets that are too big or too small won’t work as effectively.

MARYLAND STATE LAW requires that all drivers of Personal Watercraft must be at least 16 years of age (with state photo id) and no requirements for passengers. Anyone under 18 will need to have a parent or legal guardian sign the legal documents. A valid ID will need to be presented to verify age. All watercraft can hold up to 2 persons, but all have a maximum weight of 352 pounds to keep everyone as safe and dry as possible.

Stand up paddle boarding (or SUP) is quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing paddling activities. Paddle boards are easy to transport, and super fun to experience if you’ve never tried it before. The major benefit of a paddleboard over kayaks or canoes is the vantage point that you get when you’re standing up. You can see so much more and take in not only the surrounding sights, but also see more in the water below you.

Hit the water on our single or tandem kayaks paired with our lightweight carbon fiber paddles! This fun activity is for people of all ages and experience levels. Our location on the Patuxent River is the perfect place to explore, with many small coves filled with coastal animal species. Our professional staff will teach you the basics before heading out on the water. Whether you want to relax in the sun, do some fishing, or just spend some quality time on vacation, kayaking is a great experience!!
